Hardware RoadMap

Development

There are two common development paths for micro-processor based embedded controllers.

In the first you take the cheapest hardware components to do the job but must then use highly skilled software developers to get the functionality to fit into the target device.
In the second you take an embedded PC running a sophisticated operating system with large resources that can be programmed in high-level languages by a novice programmer.

Either approach is viable provided it is matched to the expected volume and sale price.

The Solution

Q Solutions are adept at both types of hardware design and development.

Internet Enabling Embedded Hardware

In todays enviroment, there is an increasing need to connect the microprocessor hardware to the internet.
The main software component needed to do this is the Tcp/ip stack. Q Solutions have developed a stack suitable for a wide range of microcontrollers, including H8, Avr, SH3, ARM, and HC11 families.

Because of the diverse nature of the embedded device, no one size stack fits all situations. To help the developer, Q Solutions offers an 'Implementation' service that will taylor the Tcp/ip stack to fit your hardware. This includes interfacing to the OS and network hardware devices.

For larger systems, Q Solutions uses either Linux or RTEMS for the OS and BSD networking for the internet interface.

See Tcpip Stack Overview for more details.
